Nikita Bier Joins X as Head of Product
Nikita Bier, the guy behind the once-popular TBH app and a familiar face in the Solana Labs orbit, just announced he’s taking on a big new role at X. Starting now, he’ll be the platform’s head of product. The news dropped Monday, and honestly, it feels like one of those moves that could mean more than it seems at first glance.
Bier didn’t hold back in his announcement post, calling X “the most important social network in the world.” He’s got a point—love it or hate it, X is where a lot of internet culture starts these days. And yeah, it’s where a lot of influential people (for better or worse) seem to hang out.
What’s Next for X—and Dogecoin?
The timing here is interesting. X’s been hinting at payments and crypto integration for a while now. Elon Musk’s been open about his soft spot for Dogecoin, and the token did a little jump—just under 2%—when Bier’s news hit. But it didn’t last. By midday, it was back to hovering around $0.1659.
So, will Dogecoin finally get its moment on X? Nobody’s saying yes yet. But with Bier stepping in, and Musk’s track record of shaking things up, it’s hard not to wonder.
X has been quietly picking up money transmitter licenses across the U.S., and earlier this year, Musk teased “X Money,” a native payment system. Then in June, CEO Linda Yaccarino mentioned plans for in-app investing. It’s all adding up to something, even if we don’t know exactly what yet.
Grok, Timelines, and the “Everything App”
Bier’s got his work cut out for him. One of his big focuses? Grok, X’s in-house AI chatbot. He wants to make real-time conversations easier to follow by building what he calls “hyper-relevant timelines.” Whether that’ll actually work—or if users will care—is another question.
Then there’s the bigger picture. Musk’s been talking about turning X into an “everything app” for ages. Payments, social media, maybe even crypto—it’s all on the table. Bier’s background in apps and crypto advice fits right into that.
But here’s the thing: X isn’t exactly smooth sailing these days. User trust is shaky, and every change seems to spark a new backlash. Bier’s got his work cut out for him.
He seems optimistic, though. “I already spend every waking hour on this app,” he wrote. “Now I’ll be spending that time helping others unlock that same value.”
We reached out to Bier for more details, but no word back yet. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
